~ then ~
I said - "yes" when Rick got down on his knee and asked me to be his wife! It was a perfect day. We were backpacking across Europe for 2 months and we're just into week 2. We were in Venice, Italy enjoying the floods, the food, the wine and the people. He called the night before to receive my Mom's blessing, he had the "fake" ring (since we were traveling on Euro rail in and out of countries, we brought no valuables with us- so he left the "real" ring at home with Justine & Chris) and had planned our daily activities.
We got on our gondola ride and enjoyed it all to ourselves-and then halfway through the Canal, Rick got down on one knee, sang parts of a song we always sang to each other and asked me to marry him! Through the tears, I said yes, the Gondoliers announced it to everyone and they cheered for us. Even though there the Gondoliers were with us and people were watching, it was as if we were the only ones on the Canal. Special memories, a romantic moment, true love in and out! Wow, it just seems like yesterday when our life began as a couple, a team, a pair, a family. And now 10 years later, we have a beautiful baby boy, a baby girl to be born into our hearts (hopefully sooner than summer 2010, and endless memories of travel, working, family, friends and most importantly - time and memories with each other and many more to come.
