8 years - Our Wedding Anniversary!

So every year for our Anniversary we go out of town - it's been our tradition since our honeymoon. And this year we needed to do the same for a number of reasons. First, because we've done it all along and it does a lot of good for our marriage to get away and reconnect. Second, because we promised each other even once we had children, we'd still do it - so our children could be surrounded by parents who love each other and still know each other after many years of marriage. And third, because I knew if I could do it this year being brand new parents, had never left Jonah for more than a date night, then it would help me get accoustemed to being away from Jonah for a night and reamain true to our marraige. As we love to travel- it's a big passion in our lives and we love being parents. Like this past summer with Jonah being so little we went traveling and will continue to do as a family. And still we want to make sure we make time for ourselves- just the 2 of us for an evening - where we are husband and wife.

It wasn't as hard as I thought- I did call to check on him and of course he was fine & having a great time- that certainly helped my comfort level. We talked about Jonah some during the night, but most of the time was spent talking about what this past 8 years has been like, things we want to improve on, memorable moments, and where we will be 8 years from now. Time sure has flown by and I remember something my cousin told me when I got married-- "you will love Rick more in 10 years than you do today." And I remember thinking to myself- but I love him so much now- and she was right-- amazing how time can only reinforce your love for someone to a much bigger power.

Rick arranged for us to go out of town- to Ft. Worth! Yep, Cowboy country! Now this isn't a top place for anniversaries or tourism, but we wanted something close to home just in case anyone needed to go home. : > We took many friends and families advice to "take time for yourselves, go on trips, leave Jonah with others, go reconnect, etc." We packed the car with ALL of Jonah's stuff and packed our 1 bag for an overnight trip to enjoy the sights of our neighboring city.

Jonah did great at Grammy's house. Popo was out of town so it was just the 2 of them. He was the King of the house! They laughed, played, sat outside enjoying the awesome Fall weather and didn't cry at all! Yea - a successful 1st sleepover for Jonah!

We checked into our hotel, got dressed, ate dinner on a rooftop while listening to live music. It was great. Then got up the next day to take in the sights that make Ft. Worth notable. Who knew there was so much to do there? We didn't! So what a great 8th Wedding Anniversary spent with my best friend and hubby and returning home to a beautiful baby boy who was smiling!

Got my things packed-- here I come Grammy!

Dinner, drinks, music and reflecting on the past 8 years
at Sundance Square.

There is a daily cattle drive down the Main street.
They pass right before you- too cool!

Like the quote says: "When in Rome......"

We ate lunch at Billy Bob's-- how can you not?
