Yep, Jonah is sitting on his own. Before we would have him sit up and he would fall to one side or the other. What a whole new view he gets when he's sitting up and new toys to play with! And now that he can sit up, he gets to sit in the big boy high chair when we go out to eat!
A few lessons to be learned for the rookie parents- when you have a baby and tell the hostess how many, we need to tell them 2.5 people. We just told them 2 since Jonah didn't need a real seat, but they didn't catch on that we'd need some kind of seat (highchair). So they call Thompson's to be seated and realize we had 2.5 and told us, "oh you have .5, we'll need to wait a little longer for a table to open where can sit your baby." What???? There are certain places you sit babies? Oh yes! who knew? There are only certain tables that allow high chairs (fire hazards and such). Add that to our long lists of things you learn on the go! Then next lesson learned while he is now sitting in the high chair- have lots of spare toys. When we'd go eat before and he was in the car seat, there wasn't too much action. Well now that he is sitting up, alert to his surroundings, and needs something to occupy his time so he's not chewing the table- we pulled out a toy at a time (so he wouldn't get overload and we'd make them last longer). It didn't go so well as all the toys hit the floor in due time. So we were left with Jonah to play with the drink coasters- they were cleaner than the floor, right? Not to worry Jonah, your parents will get it right someday.
