I read something about a man walking into a delivery room
and coming out as a Father - how true!
Then I read something else about a man being a Son to his Dad and
then him becoming a Father to his Son - how true!
These past months I've watched Rick form into a new role - a Dad. I've seen him as a husband (of course), a best friend, a brother, a son, an uncle, a teacher and now another important role - a Father! There is no better feeling than watching Rick bond with Jonah- when he holds him so tight to his chest (you can't tell where his shirt ends and Jonah's begins), when he feeds Jonah and stares into his eyes while brushing down his hair (what little hair he has), when Rick puts Jonah to sleep in his arms (rocking back in forth in the chair or putting Jonah's cheek to his cheek), when Rick gives Jonah a bath and sings funny songs to him, or when Rick justs holds Jonah in his lap and lets Jonah grab his fingers or Rick plays with Jonah's toes. It's fun to see them pack up and go spend the day together browsing at Best Buy or the Pool store. I'm experiencing such heart felt memories that are creating a bond so strong at such an early stage of Jonah's life. I can hardly wait to see more special times between Jonah and his Dad!
